… is a vexing issue for any holiday. Some things I have learnt over the last few days.
- It is space, not weight, that is the limiting issue
- 20kg – the checked baggage limit for transport on the Camino is “quite heavy”
- Some items are light but bulky, others are heavy but compactable.
- Many things will compact down over time, so a little bulk in your suitcase is not a bad thing (as long as you can close it!)
- Remember your suitcases weigh something, so that has to be catered for
- Carry on baggage weights vary from airline to airline – 7kg up to 16kg for us
- And a laptop can be taken as an extra item – whew!
- If it is heavy, imagine what it will feel like after walking with it for 25km on a Camino day, or just lugging it around a large airline terminal
