… we were all ready to go on day one of our Camino. A transfer to SJPDP and then walk back to Roncesvalles for a nights stay and be ready for day two.
The transport did not arrive.
After some calls to the tour operator we came up with the plan of starting to walk back to SJPDP (time was getting on) and they could foot the bill for a return taxi ride back from SJPDP.
First up was snow. Then lots of downhills – not that much easier than the uphill of the conventional direction. Then encountering all the pilgrims going in the ‘right’ direction. How many times did we explain our story? How many times did we have to convince people they were going the right way.
The day ended with a run to ensure the booked taxi would not leave without us.
A memorable day.
