… is a big thing on the Camino as it is in Spain in general. A tradition of the Camino evening is the “Pilgrims Meal” – a set three course meal of entree, main and dessert. It comes complete with wine. In most places this means a full bottle regardless of whether there is one or four people st the table. This can make for a challenging start the next leg of the Camino the following morning.
The Camino passes through the major wine making region of La Rioja. One of the wine makers offers a fuente – one tap being water, the other wine. So, with many other pilgrims, we turned up one morning – the sun was not over the yardarm – and had a drink of red wine. It made our walk from Estella to Los Arcos even more pleasant.
